Schools to be adopted

of assistance as pupils were learning in the open.
ZCC-K is based in Mawarire communal lands in Mwenezi. The church’s leader, Bishop Nhaudzashe Matenda, yesterday said they were waiting for the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture’s response to their request.
Bishop Matenda said they had already identified the schools that were in need of the assistance.
“We have already written to Government asking for permission to adopt about eight schools in Mwenezi district, which we feel need to be assisted and these schools are in resettlement areas. In most cases children learn in the open or under trees and now that the rainy season is nearer, there is need to build proper structures for pupils,” said Bishop Matenda.
He said no foreign missionary churches were interested in assisting schools in resettlement areas, as the West was opposed to the land reform programme.
