Eveline, Mpopoma win Luveve volleyball tourney

To get to the final Eveline beat Usher High school 2-0 with Amanda Moyo being crowned best setter for Eveline.
Eveline won 25-13 and 25-20.

Mpopoma beat Cowdray Park 25-16, 21-25 and 15-13.
Cowdray Park’s Onyakile Dube was voted the Most valuable player.
Eveline got their revenge on Mpopoma as they had handed them their only defeat during the preliminary stage of the tournament.

Mpopoma beat Eveline 2-0 in that round but the latter managed to come back stronger after they finished second to book a place in the semi-finals.
In the boys’ category Mpopoma beat Luveve Under-20 2-0 (25-9, 25-17)  to book a place in the final while  Phakamani beat Luveve Under-16 2-0  (25-12, 25-17).

Mpopoma went on to defeat Phakamani 2-1 in the final with Philani Khumalo being voted the Most valuable player while Mbuso Mthuthuka was the Best setter.
The tournament was sponsored by Advance Supermarkets.
Meanwhile home advantage played well for Gifford High School who were crowned winners of the inaugural Smile for Africa Under-15 Soccer Tournament at the weekend.

Gifford beat Masotsha 4-1 in the final in a competition that saw eight schools from Bulawayo participating.
The schools that took part are Luveve, Masotsha, Mandwandwe, Tennyson Hlabangana, Sikhulile, Pumula, Mzilikazi and Gifford.

To get to the final Gifford beat Luveve High School 3-2 on penalties while Masotsha overcame Mzilikazi 2-1.
Gifford captain, Bukhosi Sibanda, was awarded the Player of the tournament award and for his efforts received a full soccer kit, a trophy and scholarship.

The Top goalscorer award went to Stanic Siziba of Masotsha who banged in eight          goals and received a full soccer kit and a trophy.
Masotsha’s goalkeeper was awarded the Best goalkeeper award in absentia after he broke his wrist during a match.
