PROPHET Evidence Chari, who appeared in court on Friday charged with assault and issuing threats, is back in court today.

Chari, appeared before Harare magistrate, Gamuchirai Gore, who released him on free bail because he wasn’t brought to court from police custody.

The State is expected to advise him of his trial date today.

The complainant in the matter is Caroline Roberts, who is also known as Prophetess Hadassah Caroline.

Circumstances are that on January 12, at around 9pm at Kingstons House, Roberts had a misunderstanding with Chari over her car, which was destroyed in an accident, as he was driving it.

Chari allegedly went on to threaten Roberts by saying “Ndokunyudza iwe nemhuri yenyu, do you know who I am? I am Evidence Chari handinhongwe mumastreets eZimbabwe zvekudaro.”

Chari allegedly invited his colleagues, who further threatened Roberts.

Following the events that night, Roberts met Chari near the main post office in Harare’s CBD area.

She attempted to resolve the conflict but Chari suddenly became violent and banged his car’s door, which hit Roberts and injured her.

Her friend saw the altercation and started shouting at Chari, threatening to assault him, but he was pushed by the prophet to the ground.

The two sought refuge in a nearby shop and Chari left the scene.
