A JOTSHOLO man who turned his home into a house of horror has been slapped with a 20 -year jail sentence after repeatedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the 35-year-old predator began abusing the minor in December 2024 when he was left in charge of her and her younger brother while their mother — his lover — was away.
“During the night, the offender slipped into the hut where the victim was sleeping and forcibly removed her clothes before raping her,” the NPAZ said. The man who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone, silencing her through fear.
The abuse became a dark routine, continuing whenever the mother was not home. It only came to light after the latest assault on 3 August 2025, when the monster dragged the teen into his own bedroom and raped her again.
Unable to bear the trauma any longer, the brave young survivor fled from home on 5 August and confided in a friend, who helped her to make a report at the social welfare department.
The monster was jailed 20 years, with three years suspended conditionally.
