A WOMAN, whose video assaulting her 10-month old baby girl using a stick went viral and was roundly condemned as inhumane, has been arrested.
The 30-year-old woman was assaulting the toddler while forcing her to crawl.
Her arrest comes barely a week after an ex-policeman was arrested for assaulting his son with an electric cable, wire and a brick.
The assault on the baby took place just weeks after Noel Muzenda, the former policeman, was arrested for battering his son for taking time to come back home after he had sent him to the shops. Angered by the delay, he is alleged to have attacked the boy with an electric cable, bricks and a piece of wire.
Muzenda is in custody and his wife has been pleading with the magistrate to be lenient with him.
The child was then taken by the Department of Social welfare.
Now, another parent has committed a similar offence.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of a 30 year old woman for allegedly assaulting her baby girl (10 months) with a stick at Temberere Village, Zimunya, Mutare,” he said.
“The incident came to light after a disturbing video went viral on social media, showing the woman brutally attacking the child while ordering her to be quiet and forcing her to crawl.”
