mission.
The woman who terrorised the Rhythm City community, came close to burying Miles Vilakazi (Peter Sephuma) alive and shagged Sbu Vilakazi (Lungile Radu) to get to his father, has risen from the dead to wrap up her plan.
If you thought her dramatic episodes – kidnapping Lucilla’s (KB Motsilanyane) baby and killing the nanny and her disabled husband – were nail biting moments, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
The deranged woman, who got many men and women’s tongues wagging, is returning to our screens on September 27.
And she’s determined to get back the man of her dreams.
As before, she’ll stop at nothing to get him – and woe to anyone who stands in her way!
David Genaro (Jamie Bartlett) is in jail and Naomi doesn’t come empty-handed.
She brings with her a baby girl whom she claims is Miles’, fully aware of Miles’ desire to have a daughter.
Speaking to Motshegwa, who has been off our screens for some time, she says she’s excited with the return of Naomi as her character has evolved.
“What Naomi was last season, she isn’t now,” she reveals.
“This season she speaks a lot more in Setswana and is more Ghetto,” says Motshegwa. “I push the boundaries with her.
“I’ve always been interested in the representation of black women. She’s made me think a lot about that.”
She says she wants to dig deeper and find something else and she hopes this character will once again be a point of conversation for society.
“I’m hoping this creates a discourse . . . what is it that resonates for you with this woman and why do we endorse her?” she asks.
WHO IS NAOMI MODISE
Naomi fell in love with Miles Vilakazi, the owner of Redemption Records, while working as his assistant – but later married someone else.
She came back to work with him again and realised she was still in love with him.
She then killed her disabled husband and got together with Miles while he was separated from Lucilla.
Lucilla then found out she was pregnant with Miles’ baby and got back together with him.
Naomi became jealous and lost her cool.
She kidnapped Lucilla’s baby and killed the baby’s nanny in the process, then went on the run with the baby, who eventually got rescued.
She was caught and sent to a mental institution, but has now been released.
What Motshegwa says about Naomi:
“She’s tapping into intimate spaces, into the human psyche, in a big way.”
“There’s a Naomi in all of us, we just manage our Naomis . . . all personalities have the capacity to be extreme.
“Naomi is overwhelming and she has a lot of woman power and she knows how to get into her femininity.” – Sunday World.
