A FORMER Premier Soccer League player collapsed to his death at a South African restaurant last week. A�
A journeyman during his playing days, Gilbert Majoni (ABOVE) played for Bantu Rovers, Buffaloes and Chicken Inn at the peak of his career.
He was 31 years old when he died last week on Saturday.
Gladys Majoni told B-Metro that her son did not have any known medical conditions when he met his untimely death.
a�?He was not ill,a�? she said struggling to find the right words.
a�?He just collapsed and was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. We are still in the dark as to what might have claimed his life,a�? she said.
Only the post-mortem would provide the family with the answers they need.
a�?We await the results from the labs to find out what really was the problem,a�? she added.
Gilbert did his primary education at Mawaba Primary School and went to Sikhulile High School in Bulawayo where he played football at school.
His first shot at professional football was with a division two outfit Sparrow FC.
At the time of his death he was working as a waiter at the restaurant where he collapsed.
He leaves behind two children.
