FORMER Dynamos chairman Patson Moyo has rallied the club’s stakeholders to unite and save the club, as the crisis at DeMbare deepens, with the faded giants now facing the grim prospect of getting relegated for the first time in their history.
Moyo was at the helm when Dynamos reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2008, during a time Zimbabwe was experiencing a hyperinflationary environment.
Seventeen years later, DeMbare are on the brink of being relegated from the Premier Soccer League, in what could be a calamitous development for local football.
The 21-time league champions are second from bottom on the log with 16 points from 23 matches.
Green Fuel, who sit above the relegation zone, have 24 points and are eight points clear of DeMbare going into the last 11 games of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
With just two wins in 23 matches, Dynamos have a paltry 8.6 percent win rate.
Based on that win rate, the former champions have a chance of winning 0.9 games from their last 11 games, making them huge favourites to finish the season in the relegation zone.
DeMbare have the poorest scoring rate, having scored six times in 23 outings, three goals less than bottom placed Kwekwe United.
They have also conceded a massive 21 goals.
Dynamos’ poor form, coupled with questionable leadership from the club’s executive, has alienated the Mbare side from their millions of supporters, most of whom have been boycotting matches.
However, former chairman Moyo thinks time is nigh for all of the club’s stakeholders to bury their differences and unite in support of a common cause.
The need to help save the team from an imminent embarrassment.
“It’s time for us all who love Dynamos to unite because if we don’t do so we will regret when the team sinks,” Moyo told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
“The time for pointing fingers is not now. Some are blaming club owner Bernard Marriot for this situation, others are talking about the executive, but for now that is not important.
“Fans have been boycotting games but for now they should reconsider their stance and rally behind the team.
“I am therefore urging fans to throng Rufaro on Saturday (tomorrow) and create the usual Dynamos atmosphere. DeMbare’s power lies in the fans, that’s our biggest asset.”
Dynamos host MWOS in Mbare on Saturday seeking their first win in eight games.
The club’s executive has increased winning bonuses by almost 300 percent while DeMbare have also registered new players including Denver Mukamba and Wisdom Mutasa.
But, the Harare giants have a mammoth task against MWOS who beat them 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Ngoni.
DeMbare’s last league victory was on June 19, when they edged Yadah 1-0 at Rufaro.
Since then, DeMbare have failed to score in seven matches.
Their other win was against Simba Bhora, again at Rufaro on March 30.
“Yes, there might be issues at the club but Marriot needs our support. Now is not the time to dwell on negative issues.
“It has been long since I last attended a Dynamos game but on Saturday I will be at Rufaro to rally the boys.
“Let’s all come together and support our team so that it survives relegation. When that is achieved, then we can go back and address the in house issues,” said Moyo.
