A MAN from Harare has taken his former girlfriend to court, accusing her of harassment and threats to destroy his marriage.

The case was heard before Harare Civil Court magistrate Ms Johanna Mukwesha, where Ian Jasi sought a peace order against Fiona Gwengwere.

Jasi told the court that he ended his relationship with Gwengwere several months ago after realising it was no longer healthy.

However, he alleged that Gwengwere has since refused to accept the breakup and has been interfering in his marriage, causing him and his wife emotional distress.

“I am focusing on my family now, but she calls me constantly, even from different numbers,” he said.

“She is jealous that I have moved on with my life and is threatening to cause harm.”

Jasi further claimed that Gwengwere stalked him and threatened to appear uninvited at both his workplace and home.

She allegedly blackmailed him by threatening to expose private details about their past relationship to his wife unless he complied with her demands.

The court heard that Gwengwere also demanded financial support and gifts, and when Jasi refused, she vowed to destroy his marriage.

“She has been tormenting me and my family. She calls and sends messages filled with lies and insults, saying I cannot leave her,” Jasi said.

“She has threatened to humiliate me and make my wife leave me. My home is no longer peaceful, and my marriage is on the rocks.”

Jasi told the court that his wife had become deeply distressed by the constant interference.

At times, he said, heated arguments erupted between them after Gwengwere sent messages accusing him of secretly maintaining a relationship with her.

He told the court that his only desire was to protect his family from further emotional harm and to live in peace without interference.

In default, the court granted the peace order in favour of Jasi.

The order prohibits Gwengwere from contacting him directly or indirectly, including through phone calls, social media or by approaching his home or workplace.
