A WOMAN appeared in court accusing her ex-husband of throwing out her bed over accusations of infidelity.
Jane Manjoro appeared before Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her ex-husband Fininyasi Muronga accusing him of assaulting and throwing out her bed. She told the court that Fininyasi came to her home in Glen Norah and threw out her bed, accusing her of infidelity.
“On August 11, he came to my house in Glen Norah and threw out my bed. He accused me of sleeping around with random men.
“He said he could not stand seeing the bed where l sleep with other men.”
She claimed he also destroyed furniture and groceries and threatened to burn the house.
“He became more violent because l denied his allegations. He went on to destroy my furniture and threw out my groceries.
“He threatened to burn the house and called me a prostitute.
“He said no other man was allowed to come near me.”
Fininyasi denied the allegations, stating that he had not threatened to burn the house and was no longer in contact with his ex-wife.
“I never threatened to burn the house and I am not in contact with my ex-wife.”
He argued that the protection order would be unnecessary given their shared childcare responsibilities.
“The court should not grant her a protection order because we have children together that need our care.”
Magistrate Meenal Naratom considered the evidence and granted Jane the protection order, citing concerns for her safety and well-being.
