A HARARE woman was granted a protection order against her former husband, who forcibly took their children from her.

Shylet Magweti applied for the protection order against her ex-husband, Steven Munzanza, citing verbal and emotional abuse.

“Your Worship, we no longer stay together and l don’t want him back.

“He beats me up regularly in front of our children and l can’t stand it anymore.

“I want him to stop following me everywhere I go and to stop coming to my place of residence.

“He took away my phone and US$65 after beating me up,” she said.

Munzanza begged for forgiveness.

He also begged her for reconciliation.

“All that she said is true, but l still love her and want us to reconcile.

“She left our place of residence long back, but l want her to come back home.

“I have become lonely, l need her to come back home and l promise not to abuse her again,” he said.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire granted the protection order to Shylet.

Steven was ordered to pay back the $65 before Friday.
