A JILTED Harare man appeared in court yesterday accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife in the heat of a dispute. Emmanuel Chikwanda (25) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody to May 9 for trial commencement.

Allegations are that on April 19, Chikwanda proceeded to the now deceased’s house in Budiriro where an altercation ensued between the two.

The court heard that Chikwanda and the woman (name not disclosed) started “jostling” around the room.

It is alleged that Chikwanda took a kitchen knife and stabbed the woman on the throat.

It is the State’s case that the woman bled profusely from the sustained deep cut resulting in her death.

The court heard that Chikwanda stole the woman’s mobile phone and dropped his black Nokia mobile phone before disappearing from the scene.

Police recovered the kitchen knife and mobile phone from the scene as well as blood-stained clothes from Chikwanda’s house leading to his arrest.
