Illegal and unilateral sanctions imposed on the country by the United States of America, UK and the European Union bloc have caused untold suffering to millions of Zimbabweans and should be unconditionally removed.
This was said by Zimbabwe Ex-Political Prisoners, Detainees and Restrictees Children Trust (ZEPPDRCT) national chairperson Cde Lovemore Chikukwa when he launched the organisation in Harare yesterday.
ZEPPDRCT is a ZANU PF affiliate that seeks to safeguard the welfare of children of former political prisoners and ex-detainees.
“The sanctions are illegal, unjustified, counter-productive and thus hindering us from enjoying our fundamental human rights,” said Cde Chikukwa.
“They have greatly affected the industrial sector, which has had a negative impact on economic development. We demand the lifting of these illegally imposed sanctions which affect us as the young generation.”
ZEPPDRCT vice chairperson Cde Tichaona Makina said the organisation will mobilise a million votes for President Mnangagwa for the 2023 harmonised elections.
“As an organisation, we have endorsed the President as the sole candidate for the forthcoming elections and we candidly urge all children of liberation heroes to rally behind the President and ruling party ZANU PF.
“ZANU PF is the only party with the people at heart.”
