Ex-Zambian VP dies

UTH public relations manager Pauline Mbangwata confirmed the death of the former vice president.

 

“Yes I can confirm that Mr Kunda has died, but details should be obtained from the party (MMD),” Ms Mbangweta said.

Kunda a lawyer-cum-politician was born in Luanshya on 26 February, 1956.

He was introduced to mainstream politics by the late president Levy Mwanawasa after the 2001 general elections when he nominated him as Member of Parliament and appointed him Legal Affairs minister as well as Attorney General.

Former President Rupiah Banda appointed him as vice-president in 2008. He served under president Banda as vice-president and Justice minister until the MMD was thrown out of power by the Patriotic Front (PF) last year in September.

He was also national trustee in the MMD national executive committee. Kunda also served as Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president from 1996 to 2000. — Times of Zambia.
