Exercising Your Faith

determine their capacity. It is the same in God’s industry and Kingdom.
You cannot see or experience how good it is to be a child of God until you exercise it. You also cannot realise the power of faith in you until you act on it! 2013 is a great year, it’s a good year, but only to those that shall have the boldness to step out in faith and discover the treasures God has put in them.

Are you willing to discover the priceless treasures and answers you have long waited for in your life? The answers to the crisis you are facing be it with your own self, your finances, family or even at work? I will point out to you today through God’s Word where that answer lies — in you!

Exodus 14:11-16 tells a remarkable account of how one man called by God, overcame the obstacles before him to fulfill his destiny and many mighty works before the Lord. God had sent Moses to go and set his children free from bondage in Egypt. Moses felt he was inadequate to do the job like many of us do, upon receiving the call to step out and do great things for God. He felt he needed something or someone for him to achieve his purpose. If you ever thought like this, hear me and hear me clearly friend; you need not anyone or anything extra that you do not have right now to do what you have to do.

The power is in you. You can do it. God will never ask you to do something He knows you cannot do. You can do it. Brace yourself up in God’s Word and believe you can do it! You can. I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me, Philippians 4:13.

Upon further talking to Moses, God finally asked Moses, ‘What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said cast it Cast it on the ground’ Exodus 4:2-3. To Moses’ surprise when he threw it, it became a snake.

With this rod, Moses would demonstrate the miraculous power of God before Pharaoh and throughout the journey! I have a question for you today, ‘What do you have?’ Are you intending to start a business but for years have been mourning and complaining that you have no ‘start’ (capital)? You have been expecting a good marriage but did not know how to make your marriage work or wonderful? Or you have had a terrible past and wondered for years how you could move on and start a fresh life? I have a good word for you; the answer is with you and in you.

What is in your hand? You have the capacity, you have the potential! What is that in your hand? There is something in you that can turn your life around. What is it? Is it the talent you have, the gift in you, the passion you have for something? What is it?

From our text we figure out that Israel finally managed to leave Egypt. But upon second thought, Pharaoh and all his army began to pursue the Israelites.

Hear what they began to say to Moses, ‘Because there were no graves in Egypt hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? Wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell to thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians.

For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Such is the language of many when the project they once believed in appear like its crumbling; when children appear to have gone naughty; when business appears bad; health seemingly degenerating — what is it that you say? Many forget the Word of God and instead of exercising the Word in faith, they turn back and miss the miracle! Be careful how you see.

See the promises of God! Don’t see death in your life or negativity in your marriage, see life and the Word! Sometimes when things are rough you wish to go back. But I am here to tell you that don’t go back, go forward.  When things are tough then it’s time to celebrate because the salvation of God will be close by.

However, besides believing in God you also need to boldly take a step of faith. Walk towards your huddle and God will act. He will not do something unless your prompt Him with the conviction of your action. Moses upon hearing the cries and murmurings of the Israelites cried unto the Lord who said to him, ‘Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward: But lift thou up thine rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea’’ Exodus 14:15-16. O hallelujah! Reader, are you faced with a tough circumstance before you? GO FORWARD! Don’t turn back.

Use your rod to divide your way out of trouble! Use what you have. Like I told you earlier on, the answer is in you. Believe in yourself and go out and do exploits in your life.

When we take a step of faith, God acts! Even with Lazarus who had died four days, when resurrected and called by Jesus to come out, he took action and came out! John 11:44. Take action; come out of debt; take action, come out of bondage; come out of depression; come out of poverty! Take action! And always remember, ‘with men it is impossible but not with God, for with God all things are possible!’ Mark 10:27
