adminA snap survey conducted by Business Chronicle yesterday revealed that although a number of exhibitors were still setting up their stands they had high expectations of positive outcomes.
In an interview, the technical manager of Kenmore Crushing Solutions of South Africa, Mr Terence Kenny, said they were elated to be participating at this year’s expo.
“This is our third year exhibiting at the Mine Entra and we have invested a lot for this expo. We are very excited and our expectations are quite high,” he said.
Mr Kenny said his company was looking forward to concluding deals or partnerships at the end of the exhibition as well as networking with other companies.
The national organising secretary for Zimbabwe Miners Federation Mr Ishmael Kaguru said the expo should benefit small-scale miners.
“The expo should benefit us as small-scale miners because it gives us the chance to meet and talk to investors. We also get to see new machinery now used in the industry,” said Mr Kaguru.
He said by participating at the exhibition it gave them the opportunity to create and foster relationships.
“Of late, we have been receiving a lot of inquiries and we hope to clinch deals because it is common knowledge that the mining industry is the backbone of the nation’s economy,” he said.
An official from Earthset, distributors of general automotive equipment, who declined to be named, said they were ready for the expo.
“We have been preparing for the exhibition for quite a long time and we are ready to showcase to investors and potential partners what we can offer,” said the official.
Mine Entra is a specialised annual expo for companies in the mining, engineering and transport sectors organised by the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in conjunction with the Chamber of Mines.
Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, China, Russia, Dubai and Indonesia are some of the foreign exhibitors at this year’s expo.
