THE remains of 30 liberation war heroes who died during the war are set to be exhumed in Nyanga on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) Manicaland chairperson Cde Gift Kagweda said the remains were discovered in a shallow mass grave in the Saunyama area.

“We will be travelling there with the Fallen Heroes Association’s exhumers and specters for the whole process. Some traditional rituals will be conducted by the family and traditional leaders according to the Saunyama customs on Monday and on Tuesday the exhumation begins,” he said.

The fallen heroes will be reburied on Friday at Matumba 6 National Shrine in Mutasa District, a shrine that was designated by Government mainly for exhumed heroes.

Cde Kagweda revealed this while conducting a familiarisation tour of the shrine to traditional leadership drawn from across Mutasa District.
