Chief of Staff Quartermaster Major- General Sibusiso Moyo has urged army officers to pursue academic studies, saying it enhances human capital intelligence.
He said this on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of 63 Platoon Commanders, who graduated at the All Arms Battle School in Nyanga.
Maj-Gen Moyo was the guest of honour.
“I am informed that you underwent extensive training appropriate to platoon and company group commanders’ level,” he said. “I also appreciate the depth of the course curriculum, which I found to be very comprehensive and befitting for commanders at your level.
“Your courses dealt with a countless number of important subjects, key among them being the roles and organisation of the ZDF, various service, formations and units, decision-making, leadership and man management, map reading, military law, convention and low intensity conflict operations.”
Maj-Gen Moyo added: “It is, therefore, my belief that the course provided you with a clear understanding of the nature of conflicts and in the process ensuring that you are armed with necessary tools to deal with such conflicts.”
He urged the graduates to continue pursuing their studies.
“In addition to the military training that you have done, may I in earnest advise you strongly to pursue, seriously, academic studies in various fields,” said Maj-Gen Moyo. “This will help you improve human capital intelligence which if welded with military qualifications, will make you an officer par excellence worthy of a contemporary military officer in the ZDF.”
Maj-Gen Moyo urged female army officers to undertake various training programmes, saying it helped develop their military careers.
