“Other areas, should continue to be sunny although windy and cold at night,” he said.

Mr Zinyemba said clear skies and warm dry weather have been affecting the country with frost occurring in vleis and wind sheltered areas.

Generally daytime temperatures are ranging between 23 to 28 degrees Celsius due to a warm north-easterly airflow sweeping across the country.

“The weekend will see warm weather returning suggesting that the cold spell should be short-lived,” he said.

Mr Zinyemba advised the public to put on warm clothing.

“The use of braziers when windows are closed should be limited as they produce toxic carbon monoxide,” he said.

He also urged the public to desist from causing veld fires as this would cause environmental pollution and at the same time destroy trees and animals.

It is a criminal offence to start veld fires.
