Local series Ezelifa is in production, exploring the complex issues surrounding inheritance.

Set a few years after the events of Indlalifa the Heir, Ezelifa delves into the intricacies of inheritance and the responsibilities it entails, all while blending humour and drama.

Both Indlalifa the Heir and Ezelifa are produced by AJV Afri-Art, a renowned entertainment company celebrated for its commitment to creating high-quality, character-driven content. The company has previously shot music videos for successful artistes, including Holy Ten, Enzo Ishall, Aphiwe, and Sobancane, among others.

With a strong track record of successful series that resonate with audiences, AJV Afri-Art has high hopes for this new spinoff, directed by the visionary filmmaker Reneiloe Mrimirwa, whose work has received critical acclaim for its sharp wit and emotional depth.

Ezelifa is set to premiere in January next year and features a talented cast, including Prince Luphahla as Baya, Clinton Ndlovu as Zamba, Tebogo Moyo as Squint, Melisa Siziba as Princess Fifi, Douglas Makhado as Vivi, Allen Mahwehwe as Gigigi, Mkhululi Mkhux as King, and Charles Mahlaba and Meluleki Dube as Bhibhi.

Mrimirwa expressed her excitement about the project, stating:

“My direction promises to bring a fresh perspective to the familiar characters like Baya, Zamba, and Squint, alongside the talented cast from Simunye Simunye Arts, Sunduza Dance Theatre, and Afro-Majesty’s Melisa Siziba.

Ezelifa will stand on its own while still honouring the legacy of Indlalifa the Heir.”

Jeffrey Sibanda, the writer of the series, shared his thoughts:

“With a keen sense of character development and plot progression, I crafted a narrative that draws viewers closer to the series. By blending humour and drama, this sitcom is a must-watch.

“Fans of Indlalifa can expect to see how the major characters have evolved over the years as they deal with the consequences of their past decisions and the responsibilities tied to their legacies. As the new series unfolds, viewers will experience a mix of heartfelt moments and comedic relief, ensuring that Ezelifa maintains the engaging tone that made its predecessor a hit.”
