THERE’S a new Fabisch in town and he is ready to write his own chapter in the Warriors jersey.
As Zimbabwe gears up for crucial back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Burkina Faso on Friday and Niger next Tuesday in Morocco, one name is stirring emotion and expectation. Jonah Fabisch.
The 22-year-old midfield dynamo may be young, but his surname carries serious weight. He is the son of the late Reinhard Fabisch, the legendary Dream Team coach who had the nation believing in miracles during the 1990s.
Now, Jonah is here to finish what his father started.

“My dad is the reason I started playing football,” he said. “His connection to Zimbabwe makes this moment special. Sadly, he’s not here to see it, but his spirit gives me strength, not pressure.”
Born in Germany and once capped at Under-16 level for Die Mannschaft, Jonah turned down a possible European path to honour his roots and represent his father’s adopted homeland.
And he is not just a sentimental selection. Coaches are buzzing about his versatility, football IQ and no-nonsense attitude on the pitch.

“I’ve played both as a holding six and a box-to-box midfielder,” he said. “I’m both-footed, love to hold and pass the ball and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty for the team.”
Warriors head coach Michael Nees has given the youngster full backing.

“He told me not to overthink, just play my natural game and bring my strengths to the team.”
The Warriors are looking to bounce back in style after a slow start to their qualifying campaign. Jonah Fabisch could be the missing link they have been waiting for.
Blood, sweat and legacy. The Fabisch flame burns again.
