Facsimiles of energy exhibition

for an artistic purpose, but which exists for another purpose already.
Found objects may exist either as utilitarian, manufactured items, or things (including, at times, dead bodies) which occur in nature.
In both cases the objects are discovered by the artist or musician to be capable of being employed in an artistic way, and are designated as “found” to distinguish them from purposely created items used in the art forms.
One of Zimbabwe’s most dynamic young masters of found objects in mixed media Masimba Hwati, who vowed never to lay his hands on the art of painting though he mastered it, is calling upon us to take time out to ruminate on his latest offering of three dimensional mixed media artworks in his solo exhibition titled “Facsimiles of Energy”.
Masimba’s fascination with found objects and the amount of energy they possess, his unlimited skills that enable him to create all sorts with master precision from tailoring, being a cobbler, a blacksmith, a ceramist to mention a few has grown him to be a formidable force in the country’s fine art circles.
His current exhibition that opened at Gallery Delta Foundation for art and the humanities on March 29 2011 and pencilled to run for three weeks relates to the cosmic forces. His works portray a lyrical harmony similar to an accumulation of musical instruments producing magnificent sound.
Each and every piece depicts an individuality rare in today’s world. Whether it is a combination of leather, wood, or ceramics the works possess superb composition and perfection, leaving the viewer to adduce an interpretation.
From Masimba’s beginnings until now his works have had intrigue. Each and every work, whether of animal, vegetable or mineral components, convey a sincerity to his chosen theme and media and proves his individuality, and above all, his unique talent.
Masimba Hwati said the artworks in this collection are meant to trigger alternative reality responses and cause paradigm shifts in the way objects are viewed in contemporary society.
