Faheem in debut album dilemma

Faheem Somanje son of the late musician Daiton failed to turn up for recording at Diamond Studio after making bookings amid revelations he is struggling to come up with own compositions. “He is having problems in composing songs. Maybe he should try to go along his father’s lines of composing songs,” said a source who refused to be name. Faheem confirmed he had booked for the studio but could not reveal why he failed to go and record.

“Yes we had booked the studio for recording but something came up and we could not record,” he said. Following his failure to turn up for recording the musician made a dramatic announcement that he has dumped Diamond Studios for Alema Studios owned by Alick Macheso.

“We no longer have a contract with Diamond Studios so after we failed to record our debut album we opted to go to Alema Studios,” he said. His move could spark yet another row as Diamond Studios insisted that his contract was still valid.

John Muroyi who is the studio artist manager said they still have a contract with Faheem. “We just read it in the newspapers that he would record his album at Alema Studios. We still have a working contract with him and for now we would not say much until he records his album somewhere,” he said. Muroyi said the young musician’s announcement came after he failed to turn up for recording.

“He had booked for studio time at Daimond Studio but he failed to turn up and could not even communicate with the producer only for him to later announce that he had changed studios,” added Muroyi. Faheem has been at the helm of Pengaudzoke since the death of his father Daiton.

With the help of several musicians and promoters he has managed to perform well but pressure has been mounting on him to release an album that marks his journey.
