A 27-year-old man has been hauled to court for wilfully supplying false information to the police when he was arrested.

Obey Kachepa was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare Magistrate, Dennis Mangosi yesterday.

He was remanded to tomorrow for bail application.

Kachepa was arrested for theft on March 16, last year.

It is alleged Kachepa supplied a false name and address to the police.

He gave his name as Tafadzwa Makuwewere, of House Number 3, Kuwadzana New Stands, Harare.

He was given bail using that false information.

The court heard that he defaulted and a warrant of arrest was issued.

Kachepa was arrested for theft again on Monday, and he allegedly gave his name as Obey Aria Kachepa, of House number 2703 Kuwadzana 8.

Police established his real name through the National Fingerprint Bureau.

Pardon Dziva led the State.
