BULAWAYO superbike professional racer, Tim Schultz, has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mater Dei Hospital after his motorbike accident at the Victoria Falls Road Circuit on Saturday. Shultz’s wife Bianca said her husband was transferred to the ICU after doctors conducted some tests and found out that his lung had been punctured and collapsed. “He was having trouble breathing and after many tests it was revealed that his left lung had been punctured and had collapsed,” she said.
His chest cavity was starting to fill with air and blood making it impossible to re-inflate his lung.
In addition to the lung puncture, Schultz suffered five broken ribs, a cracked shoulder and a lot of bruising after he crashed out on turn eight of the circuit.
Bianca thanked the doctors who managed to get her husband stabilized, family, friends and Bulawayo motor racing fanatics for supporting her through this hard time.
“I would like to thank my family and friends and the people of Bulawayo for their support,” she said.
