Family of Bulawayo man fears for his safety following detention and mysterious disappearance

Sunday News Reporter

The family of Marcus Sulo from Nguboyenja, Bulawayo, is in a state of distress after the young man went missing following his recent detention in Harare, where he was allegedly linked to the newly formed Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change.

Relatives are deeply concerned for his safety, particularly after he was released from custody with visible injuries resulting from police brutality.

“He came home with bruises on his feet, and he was in a lot of pain,” said a close family member, who wished to remain anonymous. “He told us that he was scared and felt like his life was in danger. We tried to comfort him, but he was clearly traumatized by the whole experience.”

After the incident, Sulo returned to his family home in Bulawayo, but his mental state remained fragile. “He kept saying he feared for his life. It was heartbreaking to see him like that,” the relative added.

Now, with Sulo missing and unaccounted for, the family is frantic with worry. “We have no idea where he is or what has happened to him,” the family member lamented. “It’s as if he vanished into thin air.”

Adding to their anxiety, several individuals claiming to be police officers have been visiting the family’s home, demanding information about Sulo’s whereabouts. “They’ve been threatening us, saying we are hiding him. We are not hiding anything; we just want to know where he is and if he is safe,” the relative explained.

The family is urging authorities to intervene and assist in locating Marcus, fearing that his disappearance could be linked to the political tensions surrounding the Citizens Coalition for Change. “We just want him back home, safe and sound. This is a nightmare for us,” they said.

As the search for Marcus Sulo continues, his family remains hopeful for his safe return, while also calling for an end to the intimidation tactics employed by those posing as law enforcement.
