A FAMILY from Nguboyenja suburb in Bulawayo is appealing for urgent financial assistance to help their two-year-old daughter, Vanessa Moreblessing Dube, undergo life-saving heart surgery.
Vanessa was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot in September 2022, when she was just two months old. Since then, her condition has worsened, and she now depends on continuous medication.
Her mother, Mrs Patience Mpofu, said the family has been struggling to manage her illness.
“She was diagnosed at Mpilo Central Hospital, where she has been receiving treatment. Her condition now requires urgent surgery, which is not available in the country,” she said.
Doctors have recommended that Vanessa undergo surgery in countries such as India or Italy where the procedure is available, but the family cannot afford the costs involved.
“We were informed that the surgery alone costs US$6 600 and when we factor in travel and accommodation expenses, the amount required is more than US$9 000.

“We are struggling to raise this amount hence our appeal to well-wishers for help,” said Mrs Mpofu.
She said any delays could put Vanessa’s life at greater risk.
“We are running out of time. Our daughter needs this surgery as soon as possible,” said Mrs Mpofu.
The family is appealing to individuals, organisations and businesses to assist.
