A Sunninghill family has clashed with a local man, accusing him of attempting to lead their son into some culturally taboo acts.
The family of Nkosinathi Ndlovu from Sunninghill suburb in Bulawayo has accused Innocent Thami Ncube of attempting to coerce their son into the taboo act of homosexuality, a claim that has sparked deep concern within the local community.
A close family member disclosed that the two were found in a compromising position while naked, prompting strong suspicions that Ncube was behind the act.
“We found them in a compromising position, both naked, and we strongly suspect that Innocent Thami Ncube was behind this,” said the family member. “This is something our family cannot accept, and we have since reported the matter to the police to seek justice and protect our son.”
Neighbours in the Sunninghill area expressed shock and concern over the allegations. One neighbour, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, “This is very troubling news. We always thought Nkosinathi was a respectful young man. If the allegations are true, it raises serious questions about peer pressure and influence in our community.”
Another neighbour added, “We live in a community that holds strong cultural values, and incidents like this cause distress. It is important that the authorities investigate thoroughly and ensure that our youth are protected from any harmful influences.”
The family’s complaint has reignited conversations about cultural norms and the stigma surrounding homosexuality in the region, highlighting the challenges faced by communities grappling with changing social dynamics.
The police have confirmed receipt of the report but have not yet provided further details as the investigation is ongoing.
