A FAMILY in Bulawayo, with a history of having an abrasive relationship with the law, has had its property attached and sold through an auction by the Deputy Sheriff in Bulawayo over an unpaid debt.
The Deputy Sheriff attached and auctioned a Harrison industrial sewing machine, which belonged to the family, registered under Erica Siziwe Munakopa, who was cited as a respondent in the case.
Munakopa, according to court documents owed one Humphrey Midzi $1 160, which she had borrowed some time last year.
In the documents it was stated that she only paid $500 before she started giving excuses on the balance. In 2014 Erica and her two sons Paul and Tafadzwa were however, acquitted of charges of defrauding nine people of more than $5 000 on separate incidents.
According to documents the family had been contracted by Endrue Global Logistics to ferry stock feed from Bulawayo to different parts of the country. Erica, who used to run a now defunct transport company and her sons, reside in Matsheumhlope suburb.
It was alleged that her two sons used the company to get the tender and went on to sub-contract third parties who they later failed to pay for their services. In 2016 Paul and Tafadzwa again appeared in court facing fresh charges of fraud, where they were accused of swindling a Bulawayo businessman of $50 000 in a botched business partnership deal.
