MARSHALL Munetsi will have to make the step up if he is to impress in the notoriously fast-paced and physical Premier League, but some fans believe he has the attributes to do it.
The African’s profile is exactly what Wolves Vitor Pereira has been looking for.
He’s tall, commanding, fairly technical and very box-to-box.
Three years younger than Mario Lemina, Munetsi looks to be an upgrade on Wolves’ departed former captain.
In fact, some fans believe Munetsi’s qualities match those of some pretty big footballing names.
Obviously, Wolves’ new signing, is nowhere near the level of Zinedine Zidane and Yaya Toure, but there is definitely some excitement around the impact he can have − especially in a three-man midfield also including Andre and Joao Gomes.
If Munetsi can go on to have just one per cent of the impact Zidane and Toure had at their clubs, Wolves fans will be delighted.
Speaking to Wolves’ official website after unveiling Munetsi, sporting director Matt Hobbs shared what fans can expect from the former Ligue 1 midfielder.
“It was important for us that Vitor has a number of options in each position and Marshall is a well-rounded midfielder who is physically up for the challenge of the Premier League,” Hobbs said.
The sporting director then went on to predict an easy transition period for the new arrival, thanks to his relationship with former teammate Agbadou.
“Marshall’s played with Agba, who has settled quickly into the group, and now he’ll have the support of everyone here at the club. He’ll be another option for Vitor and we’re looking forward to having him as part of the club.”
For many, playing in the Premier League is a career dream, with Munetsi the latest to fulfil such aspiration.
It was only in 2019 that the midfielder made the move to Europe, signing for Reims from South African side Orlando Pirates.
It’s rare that a player rises through the ranks so quickly in his career however, the numbers present just how Munetsi has paved the way for himself to the Premier League.
Reims will miss their midfielder desperately, as the 28-year-old was a top contributor to their squad in a range of areas, also hinting at what he could offer to Wolves. Signing Munetsi was a must and now, Wolves can enjoy their new signing having worked hard to complete the deadline day deal. − molineux.news
