A SIZABLE number of fans walked out as South African rapper Cassper Nyovest was performing at the Stanbic Bank Jacaranda Music Festival at Thornpark Polo Grounds in Harare on Saturday.
Cassper, who is rated as one of the best musicians in South Africa and across the continent, was the headlining act on Saturday, which was the second day of the three-day festival.
He shared the stage with Nutty O, Feli Nandi, DJ Neptune of Nigeria, Skyroot and Rax The DJ.
Exactly 21 minutes after the ‘Mama I Made It’ hitmaker’s performance, a considerable number of fans began to leave the venue.
Cassper has struggled to get the same patronage in Harare, which he enjoys elsewhere, including in Bulawayo.
To his credit, he continued to perform without any hint that he had been affected by being snubbed by some of the fans.
Some fans appear to have issues deeper than just his music.
“Personally I don’t like what he did to his baby mama, that is why I am going home,” said a fan.

Last week, Thobeka Majozi, the mother of Cassper Nyovest’s son, took to social media to share how challenging the past few years have been for her.
Thobeka revealed some of the hardships she faced with her son’s health and relationship with Cassper.
“At eight months, my son was diagnosed with cancer. An entirely different world. I always stood on protection and privacy. Trying to maintain ‘the world’ and my world was a marathon on its own.
“I lived in an oncology hospital for two years with my son as he underwent chemotherapy and life threatening surgeries.
“In the depth of fighting cancer. I was hit with a curve ball of infidelity.
“The woman knew me, my son’s condition and made no mistake with flaunting their relationship. After finding out, he ended it with her and tried to make amends with me.
“I couldn’t trust someone who can hurt me at my lowest.”
Another fan said:
“This guy is not good, it seems he was using a USB for a live performance.”
