The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) has called on farmers to provide accurate and reliable data, saying quality statistics are essential for shaping policies, planning and decision-making that support the country’s agricultural sector.
In an interview at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show in Harare, ZIMSTAT manager of public relations and communications, Ms Sibonisiwe Dube, said the agency is using this year’s exhibition to highlight the importance of trusted agricultural statistics under the theme, “Powering Agricultural Growth Through Trusted Statistics”.
“For 2026, as the agency, we’re showcasing under the theme, Powering Agricultural Growth Through Trusted Statistics,” she said.
Ms Dube said ZIMSTAT’s key message to farmers attending the annual exhibition is that their contribution extends beyond food production to providing data that informs national development.
“Our message that we package to the farmers who came through is, we are saying, farmers, your work is recognised and drives the nation and your data matters,” she said.
Ms Dube said reliable statistics collected by ZIMSTAT play a critical role in supporting evidence-based governance and the development of the agricultural sector.
“At ZIMSTAT, we are actually saying that trusted data that we collect is what helps on policy formulation, planning and decision-making for evidence-based data,” she said.
The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show brings together government institutions, private sector players, farmers and development partners to showcase innovations and discuss strategies aimed at improving agricultural productivity, food security and economic growth.
