“Lumpy skin disease outbreaks are easily preventable through the administration of vaccines that are available on the market,” said Dr Nyika.
“Please remember the old saying that prevention is always better than cure. The vaccine should be given annually before the rains start.”

Dr Nyika said the Veterinary Services personnel were available to provide advice on the prevention of lumpy skin diseases among others. “The DVFS operates through a network of 8 provincial, 62 district and 500 animal health management offices throughout the country. “Farmers should contact their nearest veterinary office for further information.”
