MUTARE-BASED fashion artiste and designer will tomorrow (Saturday) launch her clothing label in the city, Sandra Dee Fashion range. Sandra Jennifer Matamisa, a former teacher, traded chalk for a sewing machine and is determined to penetrate into the fashion and design industry with a bang by introducing her works to the world. Nine models from her stable will exhibit several African attires to tens of scores of people expected to attend the show which will be held at Green Coucal.
It starts at 2pm.
In an interview, Matamisa said the show was aimed at promoting and developing local creative productions to the world.
“The clothing industry is awash with foreign products yet Zimbabwe has got plenty of designers and experienced clothing practitioners. Saturday’s event is meant to make people aware of the importance of our own productions and creativity. We should not look down upon ourselves, but be proud and confident of our capabilities,” she said.
We also intend to revive the crocheting business which is a dying trade.
Hip-Hop dance group Reflections and gospel novice Netsai Nyawata will have the time to shine during live performances.
