A competition for fashion designers dubbed “The Fashion League” has been put together and is expected to start showing on the national broadcaster, ZBCTV in the first week of November. “The Fashion League” is a local fashion and modelling reality television series which is competition oriented.

It is comprised of models, fashion designers, makeup artists and hairstylists. Brains behind the initiative Culvin Mavhunga, said “The Fashion League” is ‘just like the football league’.

“Models, designers and makeup artists will have their teams and they will battle it out and win points, just like the soccer league,” he said.

“There will be a total of 16 teams in the league, a total of 12 players in a team and each team will field six players in a game. One game will be played for 1 hour 45 minutes. In a match there will be eight categories and the team that wins most categories wins the game.

“I was inspired to create the league after noticing that models and designers only wait for fashion shows and pageants. I then created the league to keep models and designers busy so that they live out their passions fully. The league will begin in the first week of November 2015 and a total of 240 games will be played. There will be one winner and the bottom three teams will be eliminated from the league, making way for three new teams”

The programme gives models a platform to boost their careers by expanding and exploring their career options and opportunities.

Fashion designers will have an opportunity to be creative and showcase their designs on a regular basis and also on a creative platform.

Contestants will compete with each other to create the best clothes, runway techniques and other requirements based on the given theme of the day.
