According to ZFW management, they will be strict about specifications and they have engaged the services of South African production company, Group of Creatives.
“Over the past years, we have been compromising on the models and as a result, the end product has been compromised too. This year’s edition is obviously bigger and better and we want everything to tally with the international standards in terms of size and height,” said organiser Priscilla Chigariro-Gessen.
She also highlighted that it would be an opportunity to be scouted by a well connected company that provides models to some of Africa’s premier fashion shows.
The fourth edition of the ZFW will run from August 28-31 at the 360 Restaurant at Sam Levy’s Village.
ZFW, however, said the reason for holding the castings sooner is to give the models an opportunity to adequately prepare for the fashion week through various tutorials.
“We are scouting for 30 female models and 15 males. The specifications are 1,74 metres height while the maximum size is 34 for females. The males should have a minimum height of 1,8 metres.
“These figures again are in line with international standards required for runway models. The clothes that will be showcasing will look much better if models are within the range,” added the head of public relations, Rutendo Denise.
Denise also spoke on the ZFW’s choice of venue, stressing that Sam Levy’s is a convenient location for the prestigious event.
“This year we have moved to the Sam Levy’s venue because it is a prime location that will accommodate over 400 people. It is also appropriate as it is amongst the fashion hubs in the country and is easily accessible.
“There is also adequate parking that is secure for the guests, at the same time, transport will be provided for to and from the venue throughout the week,” she said.
All is set for the Zimbabwe Fashion Week that is running under the theme “Fashion Through the Ages”.
