Fastjet spreads wings to Maun

BUDGET airline, Fastjet, is set to introduce a new service connecting Victoria Falls and the resort town of Maun in Botswana on June 30 this year.

Fastjet has also introduced a second daily service between Harare and Bulawayo on Tuesdays and Fridays as part of the continuous development of its air services in Zimbabwe.

In an interview on the margins of the just-ended Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Fastjet spokesperson Mr Nunurai Ndawana said the new Victoria Falls service will operate four times a week.
“Fastjet is launching new routes in Victoria Falls. Recently, in the month of March, we introduced a service from Vic Fall to Mpumalanga, South Africa.

“On June 30, we will be launching another route from Victoria Falls to Maun, Botswana. This four-times-a-week route will be the second route Fastjet would have launched to Victoria Falls this year.”
He said the new services will expand Victoria Falls’ regional connectivity.

“Regarding the Bulawayo service, we have also introduced a second daily service on Tuesdays and Fridays between Harare and Bulawayo.

“This service is aimed at providing flexibility, choice and value to our partners between the two metropolitan cities.”

Mr Ndawana said the Victoria Falls-Mpumalanga service was slowly gaining popularity.
“Uptake for our Kruger route has been very promising and encouraging,” he said.

“We are currently operating it three times a week from Kruger into Victoria Falls. Judging by the bookings we have had on that route and the bookings we have already, the numbers have been very encouraging.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure we help with the development of the travel industry in Zimbabwe.”
