TWO teenagers facing a charge of culpable homicide after allegedly causing the death of Zimpapers driver, Silas Bhunu, in a recent accident, were yesterday taken back to the crash scene by police as part of ongoing investigations.
The suspects, Melusi Nkomo and Shelton Dube, both aged 19, are accused of stealing a Toyota GD6 double-cab from their workplace in Kelvin North industrial area for a joyride that ended in tragedy. Bhunu, who was on duty delivering newspapers on his motorbike, was struck and killed in the collision.
Police escorted the duo to the accident scene along Luveve Road in Nguboyenja ahead of their court appearance on Thursday, where they will face a culpable homicide charge.
The pair is already serving an effective three-month jail term after being convicted of unauthorised use of the stolen vehicle by Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga.

They were initially sentenced to six months in prison, with three months suspended on condition they do not commit a similar offence within that period.
The prosecutor, Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe, told the court that the incident occurred on 2 August.
“On that day, the complainant Washington Moyo (32) was at his workplace in Kelvin North industrial area when a client brought in a white GD6 Toyota Hilux for repairs.
After finishing work around 6pm, Moyo parked the vehicle inside the company yard and went home,” said Ms Kufandikanwe.
Later that night, Nkomo and Dube, who were also employed at the same company, returned after hours, took the vehicle without Moyo’s consent and drove into the city.
Their reckless outing ended in tragedy when they were involved in a fatal collision, killing Bhunu and leaving the vehicle extensively damaged.
Police investigations confirmed they had taken the car without permission, leading to their arrest.
