A 45-year-old man from Beatrice has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Chivhu Regional Magistrates’ Court for raping his 15-year-old daughter.
The court heard that the suspect took advantage of his wife’s absence to sneak into his daughter’s bedroom, gagged his daughter while she was changing clothes and raped her.
The crime came to light in July 2026 after a tip-off led to the interception of text messages between the accused and the victim, prompting a formal police report that resulted in his immediate arrest and prosecution.
In a statement following the ruling, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children from sexual abuse and ensuring that individuals who violate positions of trust face the full force of the law.
