A 47-YEAR old Harare accountant raped his two teenage daughters and infected them with sexually transmitted infection.

The man appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Adonia Masawi yesterday charged with two counts of rape.

He allegedly threatened to send the daughters, aged 13 and 15, to the rural areas if they reported the abuse to anyone.

Mr Masawi remanded the man in custody to June 15 for trial.

Prosecutor Mr Liberty Gono alleged that the man entered the teenagers’ bedroom on December 23 last year.

He is alleged to have lifted his 13-year old daughter to another room where he raped her.

The man threatened the daughter with unspecified action if she revealed the abuse.

The same night, he allegedly summoned his 15-year old daughter to his bedroom.

He raped the minor.

After committing the offence, he threatened to stop paying the girl’s fees if she reported him to anyone.

He also threatened to take the daughters to the rural areas.

One of the girls reported the abuse to her teacher.

She was taken to Childline where she further divulged the abuse.

The man was arrested.

A medical affidavit showed the minors contracted an STI.
