A Harare man left the courtroom in jubilant mood after his protection order application against his two sons was granted.
Shupani Sigauke said his children, Tafadzwa and Prince Sigauke, had been giving him a hard time.
“I have a house and wanted to put tenants so I can get money since I can no longer work for myself, but my son Prince is against the idea.
“He said he wants to stay in the house and he will be paying rent, but it’s been months now. I asked him about my money and he started insulting me,” Shupani said.
“My son Tafadzwa removed my sofas from the dining room and placed his bed in there.
“When I inquired, he started insulting and assaulting me.
“When my visitors come, I don’t know where they will now sit.”
In response, Tafadzwa and Prince did not oppose the application by their father, but claimed he was lying.
“I have never insulted my father, I told him nicely that I do not have money now, but I will give him the money,” said Prince.
Tafadzwa denied ever insulting or assaulting his father too.
“My father had removed his sofas from the dining room, so I bought my bed and put it in there,” he said.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi ordered Tafadzwa and Prince not to insult or assault their father.
The two siblings were also ordered to vacate the house.
Prince pleaded with the magistrate to be given more time to raise money and then move out.
