Stars this afternoon on a high note after getting a timely cash boost from FBC Bank at a colourful ceremony here on Wednesday.
The Premier League debutants were handed a US$50 000 cheque.
“FBC is the official banker of the Premier League team FC Platinum as well as Mimosa Mining Company,” FBC Holdings Deputy Chief Executive John Mushayavanhu said.
“I am happy to announce that we are willing to share their vision ‘Kugona kunenge Kudada.’
“It is part of our corporate social investment to give back to the communities that we operate in. FBC Bank operates in Zvishavane and, by virtue of FC Platinum being a soccer team based in Zvishavane, we deemed it fit to sponsor the team in the spirit of corporate investment and promoting sport.”
FC Platinum president Nathan Shoko was delighted by the gesture and said the club had come of age and will be hoping for a positive start when they host Shooting Stars.
“We have been learning the ropes and come Saturday we will celebrate our first victory.
“I am happy that FBC is supporting our vision and we assure them that we will give our best shot in the race for the title.
“We have heard of Shooting Stars and we don’t know what they will be shooting on Saturday but they are likely to shoot into the air were there is nothing,” said Shoko.
FC Platinum Stars were one of the busiest clubs during the off-season preparations, bringing in a number of star players.
They brought on board the Golden Boot winner Norman Maroto, Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda, exciting midfielder Joel Ngodzo, his brother Zephaniah and Bekhimpilo Ncube.
