FBC Insurance: 60 years of resilience, transformation and excellence

FBC Insurance Company Limited (formerly Eagle Insurance) is a proud subsidiary of the FBC Holdings Group, one of Zimbabwe’s leading financial services institutions.

The company’s journey began as an associate of Zurich Insurance Company South Africa Limited (formerly South African Eagle Insurance Company).

Local shareholders included Baobab Re and FBC Reinsurance, each holding a combined 46 percent stake, while Zurich SA held 49 percent, and Eagle Insurance Pension Fund owned the remaining 5 percent.

In December 2010, FBC Holdings acquired Zurich SA’s 49 percent shareholding, making FBC Insurance its full subsidiary.

The following year, FBC increased its stake to 95 percent after purchasing Baobab Re’s 23 percent share.

A key milestone in the company’s growth was the 2010 partnership with Liberty Health, which brought global expertise into Zimbabwe’s healthcare insurance sector.

When Liberty exited in 2020, FBC Insurance rose to the challenge, launching FBC Health — a homegrown medical insurance brand that continues to provide seamless service to thousands of clients.

Today, the FBC Health card is among the most sought-after medical insurance solutions in Zimbabwe, celebrated for its convenience and exceptional service standards.

FBC Insurance has evolved over decades of service and transformation.

Established in 1965 through the merger of African Guarantee and Eagle Star to form Rhodesian Eagle, the company became Eagle Insurance at Independence in 1980, and FBC Insurance in 2017.

As it marks 60 years of dedicated service, FBC Insurance stands as a beacon of endurance, innovation, and customer-first values — truly living up to its timeless promise:

“You Matter Most.”
