FC Platinum beat Yadah, move to second

Sports Reporter

DEFENDING champions FC Platinum moved into second position on the log after they thumped Yadah 3-1 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

The win saw Lizwe Sweswe’s FC Platinum move to second spot with 45 points, two away from log leaders Caps United who are on 47 and take on Hwange at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon. Chicken Inn, who played out a goalless draw with Black Rhinos in Harare yesterday moved down to third place. The Gamecocks could slide further down the log if ZPC Kariba overcome Manica Diamonds at Vengere Stadium this afternoon.

Goals from Kelvin Madzongwe, Perfect Chikwende and a penalty by Rodwell Chinyengetere powered the two-time champions in a row to victory over Yadah whose solitary goal was scored by Honey Chimutimunzeve.

Madzongwe opened the scoring for Pure Platinum Play in the 20th minute. Chikwende doubled their lead two minutes into the referee’s optional time in the first half and Chinyengetere made it three seven minutes into the second period from the spot. Chimutimunzeve found the face saver for bottom of the log placed Yadah with five minutes to go.
