“We have not received any official communication regarding any changes from the PSL and as things stands we will be playing Monomotapa in the semi-finals. We have read about us playing Dynamos and we believe it’s not official because we read it in the newspapers,” said Phillimon Muvengwa the FC Platinum spokesperson.
“In a cup you do not choose who to play but you play according to the draw and format of the competition.
“We were signing booklets with rules and regulations and for someone to say things have changed overnight will be a gross oversight.
“I know this competition has an organising committee and I expect it to implement the rules and regulations of the competition of the Mbada Diamonds Cup 2012 for the sake of professionalism and integrity,” added Muvengwa.
He cited Item 3,2 of the competition rules which says they will clash with Monoz.
“I am pained that only a few people seem to understand the format with a number of officials failing to translate what is in the book and I even phoned Kenny Ndebele to tell him that FC Platinum was not playing Dynamos but Monoz,” said the platinum miners official
“In the book for rules and regulations and also from the draw there is no winner 11 vs winner 10 so I do not know where people are getting the fixture. Does it mean that if Highlanders had won on Sunday they were going to play Dynamos yet according to the draw the two sides were not supposed to meet?
“According to the draw, one and two were only going to meet in the final. How come people want to change what came out from the draw now simply because we have qualified for the semi-finals,” said Muvengwa.
“It is not that we are afraid of playing Dynamos. We are ready to meet them anytime but as for now we are just following what came out from the draw.
“They (Dynamos) have to play Caps United first and win if they need another clash with FC Platinum,” he said.
