“We will be making our position known soon although I cannot give you the exact day,” said Muwengwa.
FC Platinum forwarded a list of 29 players out of the expected 30, with the last player likely to be Joel Mogorosi from Botswana.
Head coach Rahman Gumbo said he could only comment after going through the list as he was out of the country scouting for players.
“Get in touch with me tomorrow as I am yet to see the list. We will have a meeting probably tonight,” said Gumbo in an interview yesterday.
Not making the final cut were 2010 Soccer Star of the Year finalists Mernard Mupera and Bhekimpilo Ncube, Brighton Dube and Norman Maroto.
Mupera was the club’s Players’ Player of the Year and received $4 000 for his efforts, only to be chucked out a few days later.
Chances are high that the club will loan the offloaded players, especially to neighbours Shabanie Mine, a situation made even possible by the new Premier Soccer League rules that were effected in the past season where clubs had to register a maximum of 25 players.
It means the platinum miners will still offload four more players from the Caf list ahead of the 2012 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The offloaded players are Brighton Dube, Mernard Mupera, Bheki Ncube, Ray Sibanda, Itai Gwandu, Mthulisi Maphosa, Aleck Marime, Simon Njeleza, Norman Maroto, Nengomasha Muranganwa, and William Manondo.
