Arenel Movers 2-2 FC Platinum

WHEN Premiership new boys Arenel Movers looked poised for what could have been one of the biggest surprises so far in the league, two goals in the dying stages of the match made sure that former champions, FC Platinum pick a point away from home on Sunday afternoon.

The Sweets Makers would only have themselves to blame after leading for the better part of the game only to throw it away in the last 10 minutes.

Arenel had a dream start to the match as they found the back of the net in the 18th minute through a stunner from Chrispen Machisi before going on to double their lead a few minutes before the half time break through Toto Banda.

The Platinum Miners’ response came in the 80th and 82nd minutes off the boots of Jarrison Selemani and Panashe Mutimbanyoka.

Against the run of play, Zibusiso Dambo sent in a defence splitting pass which found Machisi. The latter would calmly curl his effort to goal to beat Wallace Magalane in goals for FC Platinum.

In the 42nd minute, Banda was to make no mistake from close range with a tap-in to double the home side’s lead.

Kudzaishe Dzingwe was the first to take a shot which Magalane punched onto Banda’s way for him to finish off easily.

As the game entered it’s dying stages, second half substitute, Selemani pulled one back for FC Platinum with a well taken freekick in the 80th minute.

As the hosts were still trying to recover, FC Platinum struck again, also from long range.  Mutimbanyoka scored a stunner from outside the box to level matters.

With five minutes remaining, Brian Jaravaza missed a glorious chance for Arenel in front of goal.

Faced with the goalkeeper, the Arenel forward skied his effort over the bar.

Moments later, Machisi got another opportunity but hit the woodwork.

It would be an entertaining end to the match as both sides collected a point apiece.
