CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas found a way to defeat high-flying FC Platinum at Luveve yesterday to dent the Zvishavane side’s quest for the league championship.

FC Platinum were on a 10-game unbeaten run going into this game and favourites to win.

However, the Gamecocks had other ideas.

They got their opener through a Mpumelelo Bhebhe header, off a Moses Majika free-kick, after 67 minutes.

Substitute Genius Mutungamiri sealed the three points 10 minutes before the final whistle.

“The guys put on a splendid performance. Before our last win against Arenel last weekend, we had played six games with four draws and two defeats.

“So, that win against Arenel lifted the spirits and the confidence and we saw the performance today,” said Antipas.

FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza, said his team collapsed in the second half.

“It was a good game. First half, we did very well and then second half we just collapsed but well done to Chicken Inn.

“I think it’s my first game to lose against Chicken Inn here in Bulawayo but there’s always a first time, well done to Chicken Inn, in the second half they did very well.

“We will take each game as it comes, the suspensions and injuries we had affected our game plan. We have to shuffle around but I think in the first half we played very well, we had decent opportunities.”

FC Platinum took a bit of time to settle but toards the end of the first half they had gained control of the game.

Devine Mhindirira made his full debut for FC Platinum.
