NGEZI PLATINUM winger Walter Vuwa has been left out of the CAF Champions League squad amid claims he is going through ‘emotional struggles’ that have seen him clash with club officials.
The Zimbabwe champions get their maiden CAF Champions League campaign underway on the weekend of August 16-18 with a preliminary round, first leg tie against AS Miniema of DRC.
Vuwa, who was tipped by many as one of the talents to watch, is not among the registered players for the African safari.
Vuwa, 30, told Zimpapers Sport that he is going through emotional struggles and wants out of Ngezi Platinum.
“I am on my way out, they wanted to loan me elsewhere and I feel that they are being unfair because I know I am a great player who does not deserve to be loaned so I am securing my own move.
“Some of the incidents that are being talked of I was not well and I had no phone so I could not communicate.”
Zimpapers Sport has gathered that he has been missing training sessions despite being handed a second chance to reform.
To try and rescue his career, the club rehabilitated him at the start of this season and he seemed to have reformed and regained his hunger for success.
“When we asked him to send his passport for CAF registration, he was hostile,” said a club official.
“After doing our investigations we noted that he has a secret agent who is promising him a move to France or FC Platinum.
“He sometimes goes AWOL and we get reports of him being spotted in dangerous places. The countless engagements are not yielding results.
“It is sad that he is choosing this life, we tried to put a lot of effort to redeem him, he has a rare talent and potential.
“Coach Chiragwi has also been patient for a long time, trying to help him but it looks like we have all failed, we do not know what to do with him anymore.”
