THE Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), has launched the annual festive season “Meet and Greet” campaign, which will be rolled out at all major ports of entry across the country, in a move aimed at enhancing visitors’ first impressions of Zimbabwe.

The programme provides travellers with invaluable information on tourism attractions, accommodation options and authentic local experiences, ensuring visitors are well prepared to explore the country’s diverse tourism offerings.

This year’s “Meet and Greet” campaign kicked off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare, where arriving tourists received a warm and vibrant welcome reflective of Zimbabwe’s renowned hospitality.

In an update, ZTA said visitors were presented with the National Fabric as a special souvenir — a symbolic gesture embodying hospitality, culture and national pride.

Chief Director for Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ms Tarirai Musonza, led the tourism team on the ground, sharing insights on must-visit attractions, unique experiences and the rich heritage that defines Zimbabwe.
“Every arrival becomes the beginning of a memorable experience this Festive Season as the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry together with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, rolls out a warm and vibrant Meet-and-Greet at Zimbabwe’s various ports of entry,” said ZTA.
“Today, at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, tourists arriving in Zimbabwe were welcomed with authentic hospitality, cultural flair and engaging destination insights.”

ZTA said such initiatives were critical in shaping positive perceptions of the country from the point of entry.
“These welcoming moments create lasting first impressions, positioning the airport as a true gateway to unforgettable journeys and reinforcing Zimbabwe’s appeal as a destination of choice.”

Tourism remains a key pillar in Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda.

President Mnangagwa has repeatedly underscored the sector’s importance, describing it as a critical cog in achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
